Collagen
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, playing a crucial role in providing structure and support to various tissues, including skin, joints, muscles and bones. As we age, our body’s natural collagen production declines, leading to signs of aging such as wrinkles, joint discomfort and decreased muscle mass.
There are several types of collagen, with Type I, II and III being the most common in the human body:
- Type I Collagen: Found in skin, tendons, organs, and bones.
- Type II Collagen: Found in cartilage.
- Type III Collagen: Found in skin, muscles and blood vessels.
